It was Raymond’s birthday recently, and to celebrate Kim ran an Eclipse Phase game. The player characters are on their way to Thought in near Venus orbit. A subsidiary of Cognite is running experiments there, and they need test subjects.

The Crusading Couch Episode 10: Morality

Morality.
Is it one of the most important aspects to a well-rounded character but the first thing to be lost when times get tough?
Do role-playing systems really need it in their mechanics? Or can it be misleading for gamers when a morality mechanic is used?
All of these, and more, are addressed in this months episode of The Crusading Couch!

Interestingly, Role Playing Public Radio also put up a recording on this topic today; they look at some different areas than we did. You can check that out here.

The Crusading Couch episode 8: Would You Be Interested?

Slightly longer episode this month, but it is well worth it.

This months episode is all about game pitches. Wilfred, Kim, and Raymond each came up with 3 different campaign ideas(for a total of 9). We pitched them to each other; but we want to see what you guys think?
Do you have any suggestions for possible systems? Is their a game that you’d love us to play? which of these do you want to play? Would you run any of these ideas? Please leave us a comment with any feed back or questions you have!

Remember there is only a week left to complete this months writing challenge. You can learn more here.

The Crusading Couch episode 6: game reviews!

April’s episode of The Crusading Couch is here and ready for the listeners!
This month we tested out a new episode format where we review (for lack of a better word) three RPGs. We outlined their settings, touched on the rules, discussed the various pro’s and con’s of the games, and then suggest who might enjoy these games.

The three games we talked about were: Eclipse Phase, New World of Darkness, and Star Wars: Edge of the Empire.

Reminder that tomorrow is the last day of this months writing challenge. Raymond feels a little behind so he’s got a lot of typing to do today!

Pendragon: The Golden Hare Hunt.

This weeks game is Pendragon. Pendragon is kind of unique in role playing games in that it has an ultra-specialised setting and focus. In this game you play as a member of King Arthur’s court, either a lady or a knight. You can customise your character background and heritage in many ways, but you are still either a knight, or a lady. Knights, by the way, can be female or male or anything in between. Our Players all chose to be male knights, and elected to begin play in the relativity peaceful Tournament Period of Arthur’s reign.

Our first game takes place just a few days after the PC’s have been officially knighted. They are attending a Hunt held in the Queen’s honour. I really enjoyed running this game, and the players seemed to dig it as well. We look forward to running it again next month.

The Crusading Couch episode 5: player conflict

In this months episode of The Crusading Couch; Billy asks Kim and Raymond about player conflict and party disputes.
We discuss arguments over loot division, as well as GM’s trying too hard to please everyone. We also come back to a few themes from earlier episodes and view them in a new light. All in all, we think it’s an entertaining episode.

We’re still trying to grow our audience, so if you know someone that might like our stuff please SHARE it with them.

When we reach 100 likes on Facebook, or 100 subscribers on WordPress/Sound Cloud, we are going to run a special viewers choice one shot.
YOU, the Listeners, will get to pick the setting and system. You could have us play as the magical princesses of Saturn, on a quest to save their father from an Earthican death cult!
So please, like us on Facebook.
